1. Topic:Unique Identification/Serial Number Tracking (UID/SNT)
Synopsis: As part of the Department of Defense (DoD) transformation initiatives, OSD has directed the implementation of Unique Identification (UID) requirements on (a) all new contract buys of $5K, (b) depot manufactured items, and (c) all legacy items in our inventory or in operational use.

5. Topic:AIC-28 Mission Audio Panel (MAP) Redesign
Synopsis: FY07 MSD Commodity Engineering Project, ID #567. The intercommunications Set Control C-9656/A, Mission Audio Panel (MAP) is an integral part of the E-3 AWACS communication set AN/AIC-28(V). The current units are between 20 to 30 years old and are experiencing decreased reliability and significant parts obsolescence problems.

6. Topic: E-3 Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) Antenna Control Unit Redesign
Synopsis: This is an FY07 MSD Commodity Engineering Project, ID #537. The C-9573/A Antenna Control Unit (ACU) is used on the E-3 AWACS and functions as a signal interface between the Control Power Supply (CPS) and the TG-222/A Antenna Drive. A “form, fit and function” redesign of the C-9573/A Antenna Control Unit (ACU) is required because the unit’s electronics are based on 1970’s technology. The unit has exceeded its design lifetime by over 20 years and support is projected until 2035.

7. Topic: 3A Receiver EMP Circuit Card Assembly
Synopsis: FY07 MSD Project. The 3A Receiver EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) Circuit Card Assembly is located at the rear of the 3A Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver and provides Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) projection to all the input and output lines except the primary power. The critical circuits and parts are radiation hardened. The 3A is the only airborne Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver that provides this stand alone protection required by the B-52 bomber.

8. Topic: E-3 IFF Antenna Drive Re-engineering Feasibility Study
Synopsis: This is an FY07 MSD Commodity Engineering Project, ID #685. The antenna drive, TG-222/A is a critical component to the functionality of the E-3 Interrogator System which allows positive identification of friendly aircraft in combat airspace reducing the incidence of fratricide. A risk reduction study is required to determine the feasibility of using current technology to reduce the repair costs and increase reliability of the TG-222/A antenna drive. The unit is based on an electro-mechanical design from the 1970’s and its mechanical gear assemblies are subject to failure due to constant use. The electronics are 1970’s technology and are reliable and difficult to support. The unit has exceeded its design life by over 20 years; however, support will be required until 2035.

36. Topic: Future Flexible Acquisition and Sustainment Tool (F2AST) program/contracts
Synopsis: This is a follow-on acquisition and sustainment program. The original FAST contracts provide a multiple-award task-ordering capability for the procurement of technical and professional weapon system support services; critical, limited, and contingency repairs and spares; and modifications for Air Force-managed weapon systems, support systems, subsystems, and components.
This follow-on program will combine AFMC’s requirements to deliver a contract(s) that provides AFMC Program Directors and Single Managers with an optional contracting tool that will effectively provide acquisition and sustainment support for all Air Force managed weapon systems and support systems, line replaceable units, shop replaceable units and components. The follow-on effort will include technical and professional weapon system sustainment support services, modifications (hardware & software) for the enhancement of reliability, serviceability, maintainability, and performance, integration, spares and repairs. Additionally, the program/contract(s) will include, improved/expanded form/fit/function development programs, procurement of previously owned aircraft and depot partnering opportunities.
